Spain winger Lamine Yamal became the youngest scorer in the history of the European Championships with an incredible strike in their Euro 2024 semi-final with France.

Yamal breaks the record aged only 16 years and 362 days. He had already achieved several other milestones this tournament, such as becoming the only 16-year-old to ever start a Euros game, while he is also Spain's youngest ever scorer as well.

His latest accomplishment came in Tuesday's night's encounter with tournament favourites France, bringing his side level after they went behind to an early Randal Kolo Muani goal.

Yamal took matters into his own hands when he was passed the ball 25 yards from goal, coming just inside off the right flank. He shifted the ball onto his stronger left foot and let fly, giving goalkeeper Mike Maignan no chance with a shot that dipped up and over into the top corner.

Shortly after this equaliser, Spain went in front when a Dani Olmo shot was deflected in off of the foot of Yamal's Barcelona teammate and France defender Jules Kounde. If La Roja win on Tuesday, they will face either England or the Netherlands in Sunday's final.

Prior to Yamal's goal, the owner of this record was Switzerland's Johan Vonlanthen, who also scored against France. He was nearly 18 months older than Yamal at the time of his goal back at Euro 2004.

Vonlanthen snatched the record off of Wayne Rooney four days after he had scored for England against Switzerland.
